The good folk at Aqua Surf in San Francisco turned me on to Dave Vernor. He's finishing up a custom made board for me (An 8'6" Egg), and I'll pick it up in a week or so. I cried with joy when I talked with him on the phone from Aqua that day a week ago, as we staffed what kind of board I needed. And let me tell you, I'm getting the great board at a very reasonable price. I'm stoked, as they say.
On the way home from San Francisco, I dropped by his shop in Watsonville, to thank him and to take some photos of his place. I met him and his girlfriend Holly and his master boardmaker. The strong scent of resin in the air intoxicated. Quote of the day: "Holly, This is Stu...you know him...he's the emotional guy." Yes, Dave, I am and I'll be extra-special emotional, when I first run my hands over the beautiful board you are making for me.
