I've been a fan of The Lord Of The Rings trilogy since college. I used to read the books every 5 years or so. And I was beyond thrilled when Peter Jackson made them into movies in the early 2000's
You'll see a few wall pieces in the coming days made in honor of some of those characters and the people who played them on the big screen.
Aragorn, aka Strider, the Ranger of the North, was perfectly cast in the LOTR films by Viggo Mortensen. He almost didn't take the role but his son persuaded him. Thank God for Viggo's kid.
Just watched parts of The Two Towers recently. It still holds up after almost 20 years. Really happy I was alive to see those films. Happy to be alive to re-watch them today.
P.S. I was in a Mythic Journeys convention art exhibition in Atlanta in 2004, in which Viggo had some of his photographs displayed, along with all of the other art work. Good stuff. Viggo didn't come to the art opening but Alan Lee, the art director for the Lord Of The Ring films and famed illustrator, did. Alan is a very sweet man, telling his fans as he signed their books, "That's Stu Jenks over there," pointing to me. "He's a magician." Thanks, Alan. Hugs and kisses.
